Hey everyone, it's Meg Ann Lee and this week we are discussing skinimalism.
SKIN -IMAL- ISM.
What it is, why it's trending and how the "less is more" mentality might be exactly what your skin has been needing.
SKINIMALISM
The combination of "skin" and "minimalism." It is cutting down your skincare routine to 3-4 effective products.
The minimal makeup trend took over in 2020 and continued well into 2023 with the clean girl aesthetic. These trends put a huge focus on skincare. If this seems like the Lazy Girl alternative you've been looking for, keep reading!
So many times, we see influencers and celebs rave about their 10-20 step skincare routines. Yes, they often have magically soft and clear skin. However, keep in mind influencer marketing exists, they are paid to sell these products and they also are doing MUCH more medical spa treatments paired with their at home skincare routine.

Why less can be better for your skin?
A lot of us get our skincare advice from beauty Youtubers, our best friends or what is trending on the Ulta best sellers list. This leads us to try new products and stockpile items that don't work for us.
Honestly, this method is not giving us accurate advice based on our skin type. Talk to a dermatologist or your favorite esthetician to get tips on a specific routine based on your skin type. Over time trying a variety of strong products can damage the skin barrier and increase  dryness or wrinkles.
Here are my 3 go-to minimal skincare categories:
1.Gentle Cleanser
2.Serum/Oil
3.Moisturizer with SPF
*rotate in an exfoiling step once a week.
The only products I've been using for the past 2 months that have made my skin AMAZING:
I hope this post challenges you to declutter your skincare collection by focusing on which products work for your skin type and your skin goals <3
