The Doll and Pet Parade’s 77th Year

There’s nothing cuter than kids, animals, and a parade – and it’s a tradition that’s been around for 77 years! The Doll and Pet Parade is back this year for its 77th year, and the Clear Water Kiwanis Club is excited to bring it back for the community.

“Clear Water [Kiwanis] loves hosting this Eau Claire tradition! It completely lifts the spirits to see children in very cute costumes walking with their pets, pushing their dolls in buggies, and being announced at the bandshell with their families,” says Kelley Simon, secretary of the Clear Water Kiwanis Club. “The joy on their faces when they hear their name and run up to pick a prize is infectious. It’s just a fun, free, happy event, and we love it every year.”

This year’s parade will be on Saturday, June 1st at 11am, at Owen Park in Eau Claire. The theme is “Safari! Let’s Go Wild” and the event will be emceed by Heidi Paxson of WEAU. This free event is open to kids 0-12 and their family, friends, animals, and toys. Registration for the parade is at 10:30am by the Owen Park tennis courts. Awards are given for the most creative costumes, and they are giving away bikes for the grand prizes, as well as door prizes and gift bags. The parade runs from the tennis courts to the bandshell, along the river, and kids’ names will be announced as they reach the bandshell.

At the parade, you’ll get to meet the Grandest Animal of the Chippewa Valley, selected by an online poll that raises funds to support the parade and other non-profit organizations. This animal will lead the parade. Head out to Owen Park with your kiddos and enjoy this fun event this Saturday!
