Chocolate Chip Cookies/Jay Ray’s
Jay Ray’s is, perhaps, the smallest awesome sandwich place in western Wisconsin. It’s in that tiny location along Brackett Avenue, where you go into the drive-through to order an always-pleasing sandwich. The thing is, you get a bit of a surprise when you get to the ordering window. A couple times I’ve gone there for lunch, I’ve seen the option on a white board of chocolate chip cookies. A-ha, dessert. So, I got a two-pack:
These are the classic, simple chocolate chip cookies. Rich chocolate chips, a good-sized cookie without being too much — the type that I was able to divide from two cookies to feed me, my wife, and my toddler daughter. It’s a good follow-up to a locally made meal.
Really, if you’ve never been to Jay Ray’s for a sandwich, go, and keep going. It’s a home run every time. Like I noted above, you may also see something unexpected upon making your order — we also came on a day when they were making their own lemonade, and ours was the right mix of sour and sweet. But, then, if the cookies are available, make sure you add them to your choice. It’s a sweet way to end a spin through a small treasure.
