Makeup Tips for Glasses Wearers: How to Rock Bold Makeup Looks And Where To Find Trendy Frames

Wearing glasses doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your love for makeup. In fact, glasses can be a fun accessory to enhance your look! I'm Meg Ann Lee and this week I am answering another one of your "basic beauty" questions that was submitted to me. I got this question a few times actually, so, this one is for my girlies with near or far sight who struggle with makeup while wearing glasses.

I'll be sharing my favorite makeup looks with glasses, how to stop your glasses from ruining your makeup and sharing where I get some of my favorite frames . Whether you're a makeup artist or simply love experimenting with cosmetics, there are ways to make your makeup pop while ensuring it stays flawless behind your frames. Here are some essential tips to help you master makeup with glasses, from bold eyeliner tricks to choosing trendy glasses that complement your style.

Eyeliner Techniques That Shine Behind Lenses

Wearing glasses sometimes makes your eyes appear smaller or more shadowed behind the lenses, so defining them is key. Here are a few eyeliner techniques to bring your eyes to life:

  • Winged Liner: One of the best ways to elongate and lift your eyes is with a classic wing. For smaller frames, a subtle wing works great, while bolder frames might call for a thicker, more dramatic wing. My blog next week will be ALL ABOUT winged liner. You don't want to miss it!
  • Tightlining: This technique involves applying eyeliner directly to your upper waterline, just below your lashes. It creates the illusion of fuller lashes without taking up too much lid space, ideal for those who want definition without overpowering smaller glasses.
  • White or Nude Liner in the Waterline: If you want to make your eyes appear bigger, adding a white or nude liner to the waterline opens them up beautifully, contrasting with the darker shadows that glasses can sometimes create.

Make a Statement with Bold Lip Colors

While your glasses may frame your eyes, don't forget the power of a bold lip to balance your overall look. When you're wearing subtle eye makeup or just want a pop of color, a vibrant lip can transform your style instantly. This is my favorite way to balance out a makeup look with glasses. You can catch me grabbing an orange-red or even a dark purple lip color this season!

Bright Red or Coral

These shades are timeless classics that can elevate any outfit and glasses frame style, from tortoise shell to gold-rimmed.

Berry and Plum

These deeper shades are perfect for fall and winter, giving off a sophisticated, bold vibe that looks especially chic with minimalist or monochrome glasses.

How to Keep Your Glasses from Smearing Makeup

One of the trickiest parts about wearing glasses with makeup is preventing smudges where your frames meet your foundation or concealer. Here's how to keep everything in place:

Set Your Makeup

After applying foundation, especially on your nose and where your frames touch your skin, set it with a translucent powder. This will help keep the makeup from moving throughout the day.

Opt for a Lightweight Foundation

Heavy or dewy foundations can transfer more easily onto your glasses. Stick to lightweight, long-wear formulas that resist smudging. For extra staying power, use a setting spray to lock everything in place.

Adjust Your Glasses Fit

If your glasses tend to slide down your nose, invest in silicone nose pads. These small, adhesive pads stick to the inside of your glasses and help keep them in place without slipping, which reduces the chances of smearing your makeup.

Where to Buy Trendy Glasses Frames
