12 Creative Ways to Restyle Your Wardrobe in 2025
Hey everyone, I am Meg Ann Lee and I am here this week to help you welcome 2025 in as the year we’re making the most out of what we already own! One way I’m coping during my “no buy challenge” is rediscovering items in my closet and restyling them to make them feel fresh and new. One of my goals this year is to embrace creativity and sustainability by restyling items in my closet rather than buying new ones.
It’s incredible how a little imagination can completely transform an old favorite into something fresh and exciting. I think we often forget how many different ways we can wear one item of clothing. This week, I’m sharing easy ways to restyle your wardrobe staples to give them a brand-new life for the year ahead.
Sweaters
Sweaters are versatile and cozy which makes me always want to buy them! SO, naturally I have about 20, making them perfect candidates for a restyle.
Layer It Over Dresses: Throw a chunky sweater over a summer dress to create a chic, winter-ready outfit. Add tights and boots for more layering.
Layer It Over a Button Down : This is one of my favorite ways to elevate an old sweater. Think 90s corporate but at a cocktail party.
Turn It Into a Crop: Tie a knot at the hem or use a tank top underneath to create a cropped sweater look. Pair with high-waisted jeans for a trendy silhouette. Or if you hate wearing it full length…CUT IT.
Denim Jackets
Everyone needs a basic denim jacket in their closet. A timeless denim jacket can be restyled for endless possibilities.
Belt It: Cinch your denim jacket at the waist with a belt for a fresh take that enhances your shape.
Layer Over Hoodies: Combine casual and cool by layering your denim jacket over a hoodie. This look is perfect for street style vibes.
As a Shirt: Button it up and tuck it into jeans or trousers to wear it like a top instead of outerwear. A Canadian Tuxedo anyone?

Basic Denim Jeans
Denim jeans are the backbone of most wardrobes, and you can make them look new with these tips.
Cuff Them: Roll up the hems to show off your shoes or create a more casual look with interesting socks.
Add a Statement Belt: A bold belt can transform the simplest pair of jeans into a fashion statement. If you have denim that is too big im seeing a ton of styling videos where people are getting creative with button placements, shoelaces to cinch sides ect, you can get creative
Deconstruct: If you are over your old denim rip it, cut it, bleach it. I love customizing items like this! No one will have the exact same look as you.
Oversized T-Shirts
Oversized tees are comfortable and surprisingly flexible. Lucky for you I’ve blogged about this before because I am a sucker for T-shirts. Like…I have 60+ and that’s after decluttering.
Knot It: Tie a knot on one side for a cropped effect. Pair it with high-waisted pants or skirts.
Dress It Up: Wear it as a dress with bike shorts underneath and elevate the look with a statement belt and ankle boots.
Layer Under a Blazer: Add a touch of effortlessness to structured pieces by pairing your oversized tee under a blazer.
