Dan’s Playbook of Thoughts
What’s been on my sports mind as of late? Quite a bit actually!
- Opening Day in baseball may not have the same allure it once had, but it still has that magical way to suck you into thinking about your little league days or days playing on the sandlot with your friends. That’s what gets you into baseball mode.
- Since its baseball season, the best baseball movies of all-time, in order, are: The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, Major League, Bull Durham, and A League of Their Own. For sports movies, baseball and boxing are kings because there are so many, high quality baseball and boxing movies.
- I feel like Brewers outfielder Jackson Chouriois going to absolutely light up Major League baseball this year. Bold prediction: He’ll make his first All-Star game this year.
- The Milwaukee Bucks are toast. They’ll make the playoffs, but they’re not winning a series.
- We’re less than a month away from the NFL Draft and I have no idea which way the Packers are leaning towards for their first pick.
- The first two rounds of the men’s NCAA tournament were BORING. I’m not buying this whole “Cinderella teams are done” narrative that is out there. Watch, next year we’ll probably have multiple Cinderella teams.
- The transfer portal opening up the Monday after the first two rounds of the men’s basketball tournament is one of the dumbest things the NCAA does. And that’s saying A LOT.
- Mark Johnson is the GOAT when it comes to Wisconsin Badger athletics.
- Speaking of Mark Johnson, I have him on my Mount Rushmore of Wisconsin sports figures. He’s on there with Bob Uecker, Vince Lombardi, and Giannis.
- So Aaron Rodgers is reportedly looking for a team that has a culture like Green Bay and is now reportedly more appreciative of the time he spent in Green Bay. So Packers fans, the next time you want to completely diss your favorite football team, think about that that first sentence. Culture is good in Green Bay.
