5 Events to Get Into the Holiday Spirit
Halloween has passed, and we’ve gotten our first snow. Is it too early to start thinking about Thanksgiving and the holidays? Of course not! The smell of cinnamon and evergreen is in the air, and it’s that time of year when communities come together for some seriously festive fun. Think twinkling lights, festive feasts, and a whole lot of holiday cheer. Whether you’re into bustling markets or prefer laid back meals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Friendsgiving at the Lakely
The Lakely is hosting their annual Friendsgiving celebration the day before Thanksgiving, which will feature live music from local funk band Uncommon Denominator, food and drink specials, and a giveaway. The bar opens at 5pm with music at 7pm and the drawing to win a stay at the Oxbow at 10pm. There’s no cover, so head on down to the Lakely for the Friendsgiving of your dreams! It’s all happening November 22nd.
Downtown Water Street Holiday Hustle
Businesses in the Water Street district are kicking off the holiday season the weekend of November 17-18 in the first annual Holiday Hustle. There will be deals, giveaways, food, personal pampering, and more! It all starts at 10am on the 17th. Supporting local businesses and getting into the holiday spirit? Count me in!
Porch Pot 101
Chippewa Valley Floral is teaching a Porch Pot class at River Bend Winery and Distillery, so grab a glass of wine and let them guide you through the process of selecting materials like pine branches, willow sticks, ornaments, and bows, and how to assemble a beautiful front door decoration. Cost is $75, and they’ll be decorating on November 10th, November 14th, December 1st, December 6th, and December 18th.
Reindeer Games Escape Room
If you have a group of 2-12 people who are up for a mystery, look no further than the Schlegelmilch House Museum’s Reindeer Games Escape Room! Here’s the deal: Santa’s reindeer have hidden his driver’s license and Christmas is an hour away. Untangle clues, riddles, and puzzles to solve this mystery and get Santa on his way. Cost is $140 for 2-4 people with an additional $35 per person. They’ll be hosting this escape room until December 31st, on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Confluence Cocktail Club
The Confluence Cocktail Club is hosting their first meetup at Helix Wine Bar in Altoona, where you’ll learn about cocktails featuring Apple Brandy.
