Back to School Tips
It is officially the last month of summer. Now that summer is coming to a close we are rushing to get school supplies and get the kids situated for a new school year. Here are my top tips to getting the kids back into their school routine.
Bedtime
Start enforcing school night bed times now. We all let our kids slide this summer on bedtimes. They probably stayed up too late most nights because we were praying they would sleep a little longer in the morning so we could sleep in, but for some reason they were still up at the crack of dawn causing chaos. Well, now is the perfect time to get them back on track so it's not a nightmare when the school year begins.
Clean Out the Closet
I know I am so bad about going through the kids' clothes to find what no longer fits them. Before you go school shopping this year go through their closets and a make a list of what they need so you aren't just guessing.
Establish a Homework Routine
It may be summer but habits can be started now. Start by incorporating twenty minutes of reading before bed so they get back in the routine.
Ease Back into a Routine
Have them start getting ready for the day when they wake up in the morning during the summer so they are prepared when the school year hits. No more sitting for hours in their pajamas watching TV.
Get Them Excited
Start talking with your child about the upcoming school year. What's their teacher's name? Are they excited to see their friends again? What extra curriculars are they going to participate in this year?
Cheers,
