Thrifted Finds: How You Can Mix and Match Trends To Create a Personal Style and Fun Outfits

Hey everyone, it's Meg Ann Lee. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you KNOW thrifting is where I find MOST of my key, favorite clothing items. This fall, I've found some thrifted treasures that I'm pairing with more modern staples to create the perfect seasonal looks. Thrifted items are not only budget-friendly but also help me stay eco-conscious.  The best part is that no one else will have the exact same outfit!

Here are a few of my styling tips, inspired by my own wardrobe, to help you elevate your fall/winter style using thrifted finds.

Layer with Texture

One of my favorite ways to create dimension and warmth is by layering different textures. For instance, I thrifted an oversized vintage leather jacket that I love to wear over a ribbed turtleneck. Pair this with plaid or printed leggings and ankle boots for an edgy, yet polished look. Texture mixing instantly adds interest to your outfit-think about layering soft knits with harder textures like denim or leather.

 Accessorize with Vintage

Accessories are where thrifted pieces really shine. This season, we are really seeing a lot of vintage scarves and structured bags hitting the style bloggers pages. A silk scarf tied around your neck or even wrapped around the handle of your bag can elevate any casual look. A thrifted belt can also add shape to an oversized coat or sweater, giving you that coveted hourglass silhouette. Don't forget about jewelry-vintage statement earrings are making a comeback, and they're perfect for adding a little sparkle to your outfit.

Play with Proportions

Proportions are key when mixing thrifted items with current trends. A tip I swear by? Pair oversized with fitted. For example, I recently found a fitted polo shirt that I am pairing with oversized barrel jeans.

This balance creates an effortlessly cool vibe that looks intentional, even if you just threw it together.

 Developing Your Personal Style

When it comes to creating your own personal style, don't be afraid to experiment and have fun with it! Your wardrobe should reflect your personality. I recommend paying attention to the pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable. Take note of the silhouettes, colors, and fabrics that you gravitate toward, and slowly build around that. Style is all about feeling like the best version of yourself, and thrifted pieces allow you to tell your own story in a way that's completely unique.

Mixing and matching thrifted finds isn't just about creating outfits-it's about curating a look that's uniquely yours. What are your favorite ways to style your thrifted pieces this season? Let's inspire each other!
