Super Foods Brownie/Ember And Bean Roasting Co

Here’s another hidden gem from the furthest reaches of the 715 (practically on the border on the St. Croix River). By hidden, I mean so in a literal sense. My wife and I were on our way back from the Twin Cities and decided to try local coffee (as we are wont to do). I found Ember and Bean Roasting Co in Hudson, and was looking for something to eat to go with our beverages. Just below my line of site was the tray of baked goods — good thing I caught that before I placed my order, since that’s how I found the Super Foods Brownie:

All sorts of foods in the Super Foods Brownie.

Man, that’s a lot of flavor to pack in a small brownie. You get dried fruit, pistachios, coconut flakes across the top, all enmeshed in the cacao-styled brownie. It’s healthy and sweet all at the same time, with some crunch to go with the chewiness. Plus, the side was smooth and hard — almost like its own built-in container to hold together the brownie. I very much enjoyed it.

Now you see what’s all packed in there.

We both very much enjoyed our coffee; being a roastery, they roast all their beans in Hudson. My Batch Brew (their main coffee) made for great sipping accompaniment on the drive along I-94 back to Eau Claire. When you’re next traveling along I-94 either way past — or to — Hudson, be sure to find a place to park and get something to drink from Ember And Bean, and something to eat, as well. If there are any of those Super Food Brownies, get one and make your trip a little tastier.
